WORLD POWERLIFTING RULES OF COMPETITION
The World Powerlifting rules of competition are uniquely clear and fair. The rules feature --
  • precise definitions of lifts as to depth, lockout, etc
  • 1kg attempts
  • all attempts changeable
  • 5 year Masters age groups
  • adaptive rules for special needs lifters
  • all apparel brands meeting the rules are legal

APPROVED EQUIPMENT

Approved on-platform competition equipment brands, as per Rules 2.4 to 2.8, are --Samtek, LeadStrong and so those brands are required at international competitions

APPAREL IN WORLD POWERLIFTING

As per rules of competition 4.1 to 4.12, other than for logos on t-shirts, no apparel brands are specified as approved or otherwise. For t-shirts the logos that are approved are World Powerlifting, the logo of the lifter’s national federation, the logo of the event the shirt is being worn in, Samtek, Lead or A7. Otherwise any item of competitor apparel that meets the specifications relevant to that item in 4.1 to 4.12 are valid in World Powerlifting. Note though that A7 is the appointed supplier of WP branded apparel and is recommended

WILKS FORMULA

Lifting performances can be rated across bodyweight and gender via the WILKS 2020 FORMULA (see Rule 7.1). Use this calculator to rate performances --

Then performances can be rated across ages for Masters lifters (also as per Rule 7.1) via the WILKS AGE FORMULA. Simply calculate the lifters Wilks 2020 coefficient then multiply by the age coefficient below to an age rated score

REFEREES

International Referees are categorized as World 2 (can referee on the platform at international events -- red tie) or World 1 (can serve on the Jury -- blue tie), after completing the relevant written and practical exams
