World Powerlifting's Elite Set Records In Shanghai

The very top lifters in China and beyond showcased their skills at the 2026 China Strength Summit. Supported by A7 Powerlifting apparel, Avancus lifting shoes and Lead Strong equipment, 21 athletes set multiple World Records and individual bests across all the bodyweight classes contested.

Best Lifter in the Men's was outstanding find Yixin Zhang, one year into Powerlifting training and producing 766kg at only 80.40kg bodyweight. Nine good successes and nearly 5kg to spare in bodyweight point to 800kg+ to come from Yixin before too long. Meanwhile Yixin has the RMB5000 first place prize to invest in his lifting.

Fifteen points behind but setting records in the Bench and Total at 69kg was Jiarui Cao, surviving an opening miss on 170kg and the odd red for lockout to come through with 183kg WR. Then came a raft of lifters around the magic 600 points mark. XI Tan at 105kg was slightly off form with 794kg Total but edged out Guanheng Wu's 599kg at 62kg for third place overall.

Come from far away Nauruans Dyke Dao and Deamo Baguga were highly credible in the 570-580 points range, with Deamo setting a Masters Deadlift record with 307kg at a light 89.15kg bodyweight.

In the Womens lifting hot favourite for Best Lifter Jiaojiao Xu came to grief in the Deadlift after illness in the days prior. That opened the door for Fangqin Mu to march through to the best lifter prize of a Lead rack with 397kg at 54.35kg bodyweight. Meanwhile super slender Zhijie Jiang had the bar close to her centre of gravity with an initially improbable looking 205kg Deadlift World Record being ground out.

This event was WADA compliant tested and as strictly referee'd as any meet has ever been. This true test of strength will be bigger and better than ever next year, possibly moving to Nantong, the home of Lead/Samtek and expanding to take in even more of the world’s best lifters.
